My subject (being an oxymoron!), is my first posting here......
First of all, I would like to state my congratulations and thanks to Uncle AJ for starting this forum. I am sure that it will grow in membership and be a happy one.

My travels have been extensive, but now I am retired, the only journeys I make are to the local shopping centres; the coast and to visit my children. Sometimes my wife and I take a cruise.

I do not watch much TV as I find it rather boring, but I read novels, especially about crime, espionage and science fiction, although the latter subject is pretty much read out for me. Arthur C. Clarke especially. One of my favourite websites is Wikepedia and I spend hours link hopping around on it.

Since my retirement, I have always been interested in local bird life and I own a book 'The Field Guide To the Birds of Australia'. I have a really good pair of binoculars that my wife bought me and whenever I spot a new species, I log it in the book. I do not have the skill or the equipment to photograph birds, but I enjoy spotting and identifying.

I have owned quite a few Swiss watches including Breitling, Oris, Omega and Rolex. Currently I have a D series 14060M. It is by far the most accurate mechanical watch I have owned. If I ever got into the position where I could buy another Rolex, it would be the SS GMT latest version as it is one of the most appealing watches to my eye.

I wish this forum every success for the future.

Steve

Welcome aboard Steve and it's interesting to see we have similar interests. I too read quite a bit but not as much as I did. I read just about everything but my main interests are historical and occasionally, hysterical novels. In fact I've just started the last Harry Potter as I'm told it's magic.

It's nice to hear you are also a bird watcher. I belong to another bird forum and have seen some of the colourful birds from your part of the world, some of them are amazing. :D

Really good to see you on this forum SLR Dude. Welcome.

I see from your website, you are a fantastic photographer!

Have you crossed over to digital camera's?

What's your favorite camera?

Steve
