45 Year Old Buddy....

I have an Omega given to me by my Father after he had put a couple of decades of hard use on it. I proceded to use this beautiful piece as my beater, regularly working in the shop, rebuilding motors and doing yardwork for another couple of decades until I lost the crown and stem a few years back.

Here is what it looked like 6 months ago:

I sent it in to my Watchmaker with instructions to only clean the case, hands, and dial, but to refit a crystal and strap, and give it a Clean, Oil and Adjustment service.

Here it is today:

A new Crown and stem have been fitted:

A new crystal and cleaning of loose debris from the dial:

Only a good cleaning of the case as it is 14k Gold, and after 45 years of wear, I didn't want to lose any more of the original material:

A New Omega Calf Leather Strap and Gold Buckle:

The date began changing at about 10:30, and was complete by 12:15

It was pressure tested to the original specs (~30ft) (good), and regulated in all positions and temperatures....

This fine timepiece still shows that it was a workhorse with scratches and case dents that could tell a story or two, but with the worn movement parts replaced and fresh oil...it's ready for a night on the town...
