|
|
I have decided that I am not going to purchase any new watches this year..
Now by new, I mean brand spankin' new....not a nice piece that needs my proper attention and has been waiting a few years (or decades) for me to come along..
I see now that I cannot possibly wear all the watches I have and do them justice - from a wear/use perspective.. The best I can do is give them all good tune-ups, replace the worn parts and ready them for the next generation..and possibly refurbish a few to add to that list.. But, why buy a new one that will probably not log more than a few hours of wrist time before I end up in Watch Paradise....
Does this seem reasonable.. ???

Hi guys,
Adrian found me on WUS and told me about his new site. Thought I'd pipe into this thread as, for once in my life, I can say with pretty good confidence, "no watches in 2008". I've not even thought about buying new watches, and continue to sell off a lot of my collection.
I used to sometimes wear 5 different watches in a day, now I might wear the same one for 6 weeks (like I did with my Precista PRS-14 recently). I switched to a Seiko SKX-009 after that time and am over a week with it now, after getting it running really well. Maybe I'll try to best the 6 weeks!
Anyway, after a lot of years blowing money on watches, I have other priorities now, besides the fact that I'm now a poor stay at home dad, lol. So, I can safely say, no watches in 2008!
Nice forum you have here Adrian!
Cheers,
Bruce |

Poverty will do that to you mate. :) Actually, it's great to wear one watch for long periods. Gives me a chance to bond with it, so to speak. Where I used to obsess over watches, now I hardly notice them, so long as they run well. Now and then I look at it with a little smile and think, nice watch! |

Just as long as you don't start stroking them whilst saying "Nice watch." and give them names. _________________ I'd feel lost without my GPS |
