We've been watching two pairs of Bald Eagles for the past few weeks. The Arkansas River bisects our city and they have been hunting all along it. It's quite a treat, as they only appear in the winter months and not many at that.
Which brings up the following. I received an e-mail recently with photos from Eagle River, Alaska. I don't know the resident and it was forwarded to me by a friend, but I envy his view. Most of the photos were taken within 400 feet of the residence.

They are certainly not camera shy John. About the only thing I can get that close to is the occasional gull. _________________ I'd feel lost without my GPS |

They are definitely not shy and hunt within our city. We've seen them in a tree about a month ago, 1/4 mile from our house. That particular time they (two) had captured some prey and were eating it in the tree. We were about 50 yards away and it was an awesome sight.
As you're probably aware, the Bald Eagle is our national bird and I'm just thankful that Ben Franklin (one of our founding fathers) didn't get his way. He wanted the turkey! _________________ Regards,
