I've seen and done a lot I could live with forgetting. But, as stupid as this sounds, I probably wouldn't change much if I got to do it over again. There are several moments in time that have led to some bad memories that I would give anything to get to go back and change. But, as a whole, I'm happy with the route I took. _________________ Me? I took a big chance in 1973 and went to work in Saudi Arabia. Looking back and seeing all my old mates, it was a very good decision for me and has meant we are now financially sound and I could probably retire tomorrow. Brenda is a great worrier so she's making me stay out there until I'm 65 or until the company decide I should go.
I think everyone eventually looks back and wonders "what if". In my case I've made some mistakes along the way but you just have to keep looking forward.
Thinking positive, I do have two events in my life that I look back on with great satisfaction. I met the love of my life 45 years ago and we're still together. The other was 38 years ago when I quit my (secure) job of 10 years and went into a career in law enforcement.
At the time we had two children and my wife was pregnant with a third. Yes, I had some doubts at the time and several friends and relatives thought I was crazy. But I followed a dream, with the support of a loving family, and wouldn't change a thing!
I'm enjoying retirement now, have a wonderful family and a lot of good memories. I must have done something right. _________________ Regards,
