So, I mentioned that I was on a SS Daytona list....

I'm not sure why, maybe I'm just caught up in the hype.....after all, I don't really need another watch....but, you know, I can't help myself..it's a sickness.

It took some thought process to justify the $7900 for a SS model that it would have cost before the price hike....but it is a great movement, and a one of a kind purchase... and, It's really not the money.......I've got it, it's more of the "why am I spending this kind of money on a hobby".   But, I have a friend with more money in a few pages of stamps than I have in watches....and he can't mail a letter with them.... at least I can tell time..

But now at $9200 bucks.........OK.......I'll spend it...   What drives us.....I mean really...........Why do we do it....
What makes it worth this kind of increase....

If it's gone up that much, I'm going to pass and put the money toward a 500mm f4VR lens.

It's what makes us smile, Larry. Everybody has a different source for them, but ours happens to be watches. You wake up every day, you put it on and it brings a smile to your face. You just can't put a price tag on that

"What makes it worth this kind of increase...."

I'm not sure it is worth the price increase.  Some of us are just crazy enough to pay it though.  I'm on two lists for the SS Daytona and would have gladly paid the $7,900.  The price increase has created some doubt if I want one that much.

I'll remain on the lists, mostly because I don't expect a call.  However, I'm curious how long it will take should they call me and I guess I'll decide at that time whether I still have the "Daytona fever".
