Vu... I want to help... go ahead..  send the brand new Daytona to me...  I'll take it off your hands and you'll get a good nights sleep....

Just trying to help out a fellow WIS...

On a more serious note...  I would do as Lisa, wait until next week, if you decide it's not for you, then hey, it's not for you!  Doesn't matter that it's hard to get, or you longed for it for a while... if the watch doesn't sing to you, it's not the one.  Don't fret about it, get the one and wear it in good health.

We agree.   For me there are three types of problems.  Those you can ignore, which is 90% of them; those you have to tend to immediatley; and those you can put on hold to deal with later.

I was at an AD tonight and they had a SS Daytona in white dial in the case. I ended buying it for MSRP + 8% sales tax, so $10,719 USD out the door.

It's a beautiful piece and it's one that I've been wanting for awhile, but now that I own it...I am not so sure. For starters, I would have to sell my platinum YM and a few of my Nikon lenses to pay for it so cost is a big issue. My YM has platinum in it, so at least that can justify the price tag on it vs a SS chronograph. I don't see myself using the chronograph function much like how I use the bezel on the YM. I like the lume on the YM better. I think I may miss the date function.

Currently it's sitting in the box and I have 30 days to decide if I should keep it or return it.

Thoughts?

Hi Vu,

More important than whether you like or don't like the Daytona, is the issue that it appears to have put a financial strain on you.

Now that is something you DON'T want!!  If you have to sell off the Platty (on which you will take a big hit) and some of your expensive lenses, then the whole exercise is futile and worthless.

Return the watch asap, get your money back and you will see how relieved you will feel.

Good luck - JJ

Daytonas aren't for everybody..
It depends on what you want in a watch.. the look; the feel (inner self), and what you see when you think of the time-piece you have..

I love the Daytona because of it's unique, ground-up, approach that Rolex recently took with the latest movement...  The movement is genius and will fit into a collector of fine watches psyche just fine...

Many others aren't comfortable with such a "cult" watch...  it just isn't what they want to have on heir wrist...

.........  nothing wrong with being in either camp......

I had one for two days.
Bought it at MSRP... 6800 bucks, sold it for MSRP to another WIS.

Wasn't for me at all, and I love chronos.

Now that a couple of days have passed, Vu - how are you feeling about your decision?

I returned it. I don't regret it or even miss it.

The SS Daytona is a beautiful watch, but I just didn't feel like it's the watch for me right now. I'm happy with my YM and actually have learn to appreciate it more. It was the chase and to have something that wasn't so common. Of course the strange thing is that I have seen several SS Daytonas, but I've only seen one other person wearing a platinum YM.

10k is a good size chunk of change this day is time!
Lisa advise is sound....I almost bought a WG DG Tuesday at the mall....the reason didn't was she would not back off the 6500 list price and I wanted 5995.00....oh well maybe next time.
One day I will get another DJ...I guess Tuesday was just not the day....and we went to the mall so my wife could go to L'Occitane to get her some creams and junk.
