Abandoned Lighthouse..

Yes... I like Lighthouses.............. even though I live in the desert...

Here is one that was abandoned on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas at the tip of Baja...

I wonder if they took the light off and used it on the new one...

Larry very interesting. It would be neat to know when the old lighthouse was put into operation and when it was abandoned due to the change in the ocean!!!

I enjoy looking at Lighthouses and have seen a few in Upper and Lower Michigan. Colin, thanx for the information.....

My wife and I grew up in NC, and had some family houses on the Outer Banks up till ~2000. We spent each summer driving up and down the beach, taking pictures of the lighthouses and going through them.

Prior to kids, this facination migrated to searching out lighthouses all up and down the east coast, and the pacific NW. Lots of cool history to be found.

The one you show looks like it would make a cool house. Probably has a great view!

Here is another view.. We were out to sea quite a ways, but you can see that the structure is still very much intact after 120 years..

I agree.... this one would be a fantastic view and would be a great place to have a home.. You can see the desolate road needed to get to this beacon in the background.. the new one is on the top of a hill and closer to the population center..

On the coast on NC there are old watch towers from WWII, that were used to look for submarines off the coast. They're built of concrete and stand about 75 feet tall, possibly more.

When I was in high school these were used for partying and all sorts of mayhem. Now they have been sold and convereted into houses. To say the least, the structure is storm-proom, and would make a very cool house. When I'm home in Dec., I'll take a picture or two of how they've turned out.
