I, too, have similar concerns, but you know what?  It's not that deep.  Not only do I think it will be fun but perhaps we can have a thread devoted to participants and their polyanna gifts.  It will be like sharing some seasonal festivity with the rest of the group. _________________ Sarcasm is my second language.
