Bill, when it rains it pours.....
I'm so sorry to hear that Ethan doesn't feel well. I'm glad his fever broke and will keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't have H1N1.....
And poor Bandit, hopefully everything will work out and Bandit can recover.....

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. The good news is that Ethan is doing well. I think all the rest he had today helped. His lungs are clear and because his temp. will have been normal for 24 hrs he's cleared to go back to school tomorrow. Believe it or not, even as active as he is, he has asthma and as a precaution he needed a prescription for Tamiflu.
The pediatrician's office was a zoo tonight. There were no seats left and I kept seeing different kids wearing masks. I'm guessing they were the kids with H1N1. I checked in with the receptionist, gave her my cell phone number and told her to call me when it was Ethan's turn. Since I was parked just outside the waiting room windows, Ethan and I went outside and waited in the car. I've never been a germophobe but lately my awareness has increased.
In other news, Bandit is resting quietly at my feet. It's not like him to sleep. He usually lays with his eyes open, just watching everything. Tonight he sleeps. He must be getting tired.
I think we're all quietly hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
Thank you all.

Aw, Bill.... reading about Bandit brings tears to my eyes.  I'll be thinking of your family tonight.

Mornin' Bill. I'm glad Ethan is feeling better. I too am extra cautious about the germ thing. Working in a high school with almost 150 adults and about 1400 kids, the risks are everywhere. I don't touch the railings going up and down the stairs from floor to floor, I open push doors and handles with my sleeves, and either wash my hands or use hand sanitizer dozens of times during the day. Some of our elementary schools have over 100 kids a day off sick.

I am thinking of Bandit.

Mornin' Nancy,
I hope you have a great day. I'll let you know the details of my day later on.

This is not a thread I typically follow, but in reading the last few pages, I want to convey Bill, that I am sorry for what is going on with Ethan and Bandit.  I can imagine how you must be feeling and I'll be checking this thread to see how things unfold.  I really wish you and your family the best as you cope with two difficult situations.  Faith

Mornin' Bill. I see there was nothing here from you last night, so I'm worried this morning. I'm thinking of you all.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for thinking of us. Ethan is doing better, just has a cough now. Bandit is not. He passed away last night. I was there. He had a tumor that was taking up 2/3 of his bladder. The x-rays showed the size - it was huge. That would explain all the blood. Poor pup. The Dr. was very kind and patient and gave me all the time I needed.

This is the picture of him that I found online that the rescue posted before we adopted him.

He sure looked like he needed a nice home.

Here he is the following summer

These pictures were just taken recently.

With Daisy (Died March 9, 2008)

I guess they're romping together again.

Bill,

I am so sorry to hear that your Bandit passed away.  How terribly sad, but by virtue of the fact you rescued him, I'm certain you gave him the best possible life.  He was a fortunate dog indeed.  Faith

I'm sure you've seen this before, but it's nonetheless fitting . . .

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
