Mornin' Bill. How is Ethan doing??

Had fun with the girls last night, but it made for a long day. I'm happy today is Friday!!It's going to be a  nice, relaxing night of doing absolutely nothing!

Take care of you and have a great day!

P.S. Thanks for that info. I've passed it on to Al!

Mornin' Nancy,
Glad to hear that you had a good time out with your friends last night. It's funny. I'm at the stage where all my friends (besides you guys here) are my son's friends parents. They're good folks so I'm pretty lucky.
Today is one week since the layoff at work. Now everyone is nervous whenever we see a closed door. It'll probably take a few weeks for us to settle.
Tonight, Ethans friend is having a Halloween party/dance. They rented the local K of C hall and a DJ. It's also the same night as the school dance. I predict her party will be more popular than the dance. With Wendrfull and Ethan at the party the TV is finally MINE. Buwahaha.

Mornin' Bill! How did Ethan enjoy the party? Bet you enjoying your quiet time with the TV and the remote, eh?

My evening was pretty quiet. We just sat and chatted and relaxed with some drinks and ordered pizza. Kind of nice to have a whole evening of doing nothing when you've been rushed all week.

Today we have to get some groceries and find a pumpkin. Al is the official carver!!

Happy Hallowe'en!!!

Mornin' Nancy
Hey that's some great looking pumpkin you posted. Did Al do that?
Last night was good. Wendy an Ethan went to the party but Wendys camera batteries died (isn't that always the way?). Bill to the rescue. While there I saved another guy from the kid/mother party and we went back to my house and watched "the Crow". It's a good "day before Halloween" movie.

it's the movie that Brandon Lee was killed while making. Brandon lee is Bruce Lee's oldest son.
There's lots to do today so I'd better get started.
Hope you have a great day.

Mornin' Bill! Glad you and the other dad had a chance to relax. I think I've seen that movie! I love Bruce Lee movies so I'm pretty sure I would have watched one with Brandon in it as well.

Yesterday was a busy day. We went out to buy a pumpkin (the pic I posted earlier was just something off the net), then headed to the grocery store for a bunch of things. Came back home so I could store the fresh meats/freezer stuff away and then headed to the local mission because while we were at the store they had potatoes, carrots, onions and pasta on sale for a great price so we bought a bunch of stuff for the mission. After we dropped that stuff off we headed to our club for a quick drink and some chat with a few friends. Once we got back home I made us a quick lunch and Al carved the pumpkin. Then my son and his wife and two of the kids dropped by so we couldl see their costumes. The 5 year old had been in a cranky mood for over and hour but Al worked his magic and she finally came around. The evening was quiet/busy handing out candy. Al handled it all. I sat in a chair and kept him company. We only had about 55 kids. Had some leftover pizza for dinner and called it a day around 10:30 or so.

Today we have a guy coming to look at our kitchen floor and give us a quote on replacing the cushion flooring with porcelain tiles.

I hope today is relaxing for you!!

Morning Nancy,
It sounds like you had a good Saturday. Let me tell you about mine.
Even though Ethan can't play soccer his team still had a game so he threw on the team shirt and I brought him over to the field so he could hang out on the sidelines with the coach. While he was doing that I was in the truck making phone calls. Bandit hasn't been feeling well and needed to see a vet. Bandit hates riding in cars so I made an appt with the closest place to the house, the place that he gets his checkups, the place that screwed up his paperwork at his last checkup...
Ethan and I brought him in and the vet told us that he has an obstruction, his bladder is full and he's gonna die if he doesn't have an operation. Oh and BTW the operation is few towns away and will cost thousands. Do you want to spend thousands right now or should we just euthanize him right here and now? Ethan starts welling up, my head starts spinning and Wendy is on the phone, crying.
I just bought 2 cars and my son just had a surgery... I'm a little short right now. My head is telling me that my dog is 9 years old and I just played this game 1-1/2 years ago when Daisy was sick and she died. I spent loads of money and my dog died anyway. I paid them for (?) and we left.
I called another vet that we used to go to for our cats but he's farther away. Bandit hates riding in cars but tough, he's going there. That vet agreed to meet me at 4:00. Bandit and I hung out in the yard and washed the cars together until it was time to leave.
When we got there the vet immediately catheterized him and drained all the bloody urine out of his bladder. Bandit felt better right away. He explained that there is a stone or tumor blocking things, gave me some medicine that may help to disolve a stone, some instructions and sent us on our way. I paid him and we left.
Here's how I'm seeing this:
He actually left his wife at the store while he came and relieved Bandit's discomfort. He gave us medicine and hope. The final outcome might be the same. Bandit may need more work than I can afford to right now and I'll have to live with that but I'm so grateful that he tried. Nomatter what I'm thankful for the effort.
Why can't they all be like that?

Sorry to hear about Bandit Bill, I hope the medicine from the good vet helps.  I suppose vets are no different than the rest of us, some are good, some are bad and some indifferent.

Bill, I'm so sorry to hear about Bandit's medical problems and wish your family the best. Our cat died 4 years ago from cancer and our vet was wonderful. She said we could do a biopsy and then do surgery to remove the tumors. But the bottom line she said from her experiences is the cancer would grow back and eventually Abby would succumb to the cancer. She suggested a treatment of steroids and pain medication to help Abby to be more comfortable and when things got really bad we could put her down. Due to the caring and kindness of the vet, Abby lived for almost a year after the first diagnosis. My heart goes out to you and your family and hope everything works out okay.....

Oh Bill. My heart is aching. I know exactly how you are feeling. When we had to take Taffy in a few weeks ago, I knew there was a chance that they would tell me something serious and the bottom line is, we just don't have the money to put out hundreds or even a couple of thousand to fix things. Realistically, I knew I might have to make that choice, and I know she's 12 years old, but the bottom line was, I wasn't prepared to make that choice right then and there on the spot. I know that whatever was wrong with her might come back, but at least I've had a little more time with her and I'm more mentally prepared for what might lie ahead.

I'm going to say some bigtime prayers for Bandit's recovery. It can't hurt! We're here for you.

Mornin' Bill. How is Bandit doing????

Yesterday was a busy/quiet day here. I got housework and laundry done, divided up a bunch of meat that I bought Saturday and put it into the freezer in portion sizes. A guy came to give us a quote on our kitchen floor, and I chatted with my sister on the phone for a while and with my son on MSN. Pretty laid back day really.

How about yours??

Mornin Nancy.
Bandit's not doing well. He's still blocked and leaking. He's very uncomfortable. We'll be visiting the vet again today.
Thanks for asking.
Ethan is also home sick today. He had a fever last night and has a cough and also was sick this morning. We'll be visiting the Dr's office today.
Wendy's no feeling well today either. She went in to work this morning but will work from home tomorrow.
Yesterday I shampoo'd all the rugs in the house. I think today I'll be doing a few over again.
When it rains it pours.

Geez, Bill. You're getting it all at once. Hang in there bud, and keep us posted.

Bandit and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Nancy
Bandit and just got back from the vet. He was bleeding pretty good. The Dr drained his bladder again. Tomorrow I'll bring him back to be knocked out and X-rayed. I'll know more tomorrow night.
Ethan's fever broke this morning and he's feeling better but we're keeping his appt and heading over to the pediatrician's office anyway. His appt is at 4:30.

Oh, Bill.  Sorry you're seeing such tough times.  Good to hear Ethan's doing better, and I hope Bandit will be, too.
