Weekend work?Because Uncle AJ brought it up in his previous post, it made me realize I'm not the only person working on Saturday and Sunday...
My "weekend" is Tuesday and Wednesday, and my husband's is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (he works 10h days, so he's off 3)
So, I just wanted to create a little poll to see how (un-)common it is to work weekends....

Hi Mireyna:
I can't really qualify for this poll as I am now retired. However, I did vote for when I worked.
Sometimes I worked weekends. It all depended on what was happening and where I was supposed to be. There were weeks when it was 18/24 7 days.
Earlier in my career, I worked rosters which included weekends and public holidays including Christmases. Glad they are in the past now!

Of course, that'll count as well!
Thanks for replying!
I'm happy for you those days are in the past! I hope I'll be there someday! (although I still have a long ways to go)

I too am retired but voted in your poll.
In addition to working weekend duties, I was on call 24/7 and even had a take-home vehicle in order to respond quickly after hours.

Mireyna,
I have to explain a little more about my working Saturdays and Sundays. In the Islamic world, Friday is the rest day and holiest day of the week. Many Islamic countries work from Saturday to Wednesday and have Thursday and Friday off. Because the world is shrinking and most of the world does business from Monday to Friday, some Islamic countries have now changed to Friday and Saturday as the weekend. So although I work Saturdays and Sundays in Saudi Arabia, it's not technically working weekends. I still voted for the first choice regardless.

I work Saturdays. Always have, ever since I was a kid. It's nice because when my wife tells me "So and so are having a party for (insert function) and it's Saturday afternoon," imagine my dismay when I can't go

I voted never..
But, I too am retired.. When I did work, for most of my career, it was an any time day or night kind of job.. Which also meant quite a few holidays as well..

I work half of it. Sunday is my Monday, but I like being off on at least one weekday.
