Twinlock vs. TriplockHere's a bit of a comparison..
As can be seen, the Triplock is more robust. Early versions of the Triplock did not sport an outside gasket.
Both systems incorporate "O" rings inside the crown tube that fit around the crown stem to prevent dirt or water from entering the Oyster case...
Twinlock...

Very nice, Larry  I wish the 16710 had a triplock. I think it ads to the look of the watch, as well as, ease of use.

I agree.. I think they missed the boat on that one..
I do wear my EXP II with a twinlock quite frequently to snorkel in so I don't feel they really sacrificed anything. Still, for a rugged watch, the Triplock is more rugged looking...
It's really the larger crown rather than the extra sealing that most folks see. I think they could at least have used the larger crown..

Great pics Larry! :D Here's a bit of info posted on TZ by a great collector dealing with the history of the triplock on the Sub.

Thanks Mike...I wasn't sure exactly when the triplock changed to the exterior "O" ring so didn't say. Looks like about 1979....Hope I can remember that if it ever comes up...
