TRF all over againWhen I get home from work, the first thing I do after my dinner, is check TRF to see what's new...
Then I switch to this forum, and I see the same stuff!
I think that's a real shame, why can't it be a little more original over here?

I think every forum would like to have it's own original stuff.. Sometimes you have to populate the threads with enough of the same-old, same-old, until you hit on something that clicks with the members, or better yet, clicks with the many lurkers and guests that just need some trigger for them to join in.
If you look at the handful of good forums you will find that many of the same personalities frequent them all.. and to some extent we bring our tired ideas and non-original thinking with us...
It takes the people on it, or new personalities, to come up with the original queries or ideas....and to help each forum develop it's own personality. This one is just growing and will find it's niche given time.. and given a membership willing to give to it...
This place has a watch side and a nature side....something you don't see in a single dimension forum... I hope that both sides of it find a following - and folks with original ideas to to help.
So, come on....give us your original ideas...discussion....or photo work..

Hi ABS:
Both this forum and TRF are based around wrist watches. Perhaps you would care to elaborate on your comment:
Then I switch to this forum, and I see the same stuff!
We will welcome any constructive criticsm.

OK, I'm sorry I wasn't clear on that.
What I mean is that here I read the same subjects as soon as I open the Rolex section. So, I don't even bother to open them, if I read them at TRF, because it's all basicly the same answers anyways. I tried my own thread just a minute ago, and we'll see how it goes, I might come up with other stuff we haven't talked about yet... at least for as long as I've been watching.
I'm sorry if I offended anybody, that wasn't the intention.

Hi ABS
I agree a lot of watch forums do tend to go over old ground again and again. After all how much can you say about watches? This is my first and possibly last attempt at a forum and I've tried to include two of my favourite subjects, watches and nature with a little bit of photography thrown in. I'm open to any criticism as long as it's constructive and points us in the right direction. Like all forums, it's an open (within reason) discussion platform. It's up to the members to develop it in the way they want to. If you can come up with ways to make things better, please let us know and we will try to implement them. :D

Hi ABS and no offense taken here. :D
Yes, there may be repeat information or topics but this is a specialized (watch) forum. However, not all are as well versed as others and "old" subjects might be new to some members, especially if they're asking the question. Even in the repeated threads a new idea might be expressed or it may spawn a new thread of interest to others.
Quite frankly, a lot of what I know about Rolex (which isn't much compared to some members) came from Rolex forums and I'm grateful for the dedicated members who had the time and patience for me.
One of the reasons I'm a member of this forum is the common interests and camaraderie of the members. It's a friendly retreat where I can go to spend some time with pleasant people who have a sense of humor and are tolerant of others views.
Welcome to a friendly forum and I hope you find it as pleasant as I do.

Yeah,...Unfortunately that seems to be the case a lot of times. I think more so on forums dealing with predominately modern watches. The historical record is pretty clear when dealing with the contemporary.
I tend to notice this less with forums dealing with vintage pieces as the record is in many cases is spotty and new information constantly comes to the surface. Many use these forums as a research tool with topics used to clear up or stimulate questions.
As time goes on I'm sure this forum will develop it's niche, and will flourish. :D
