SOLID END LINKS REMOVALDrilled lugs removal of a Rolex bracelet is a piece of cake.
SEL links are a different story.
Does anyone know of where I can find instructions on how to remove and refit the SEL bracelet from the watch to check on the serial number on the watch case between the lugs? I have the right tool (Bergeon) for the job, it's just the technique. I recall somewhere that there was a step by step photo sequence.
Which end of the watch is the serial number? The 12 o'clock end or the 6 o'clock?
Thanks guys

All I can answer is the serial number is at the 6 O'clock end. As far as removal of the links goes, I'll leave that to the experts. I'm sure someone will be able to answer that soon. :D

Is this of any assistance?

If you scroll down the page, there are several illustrations regarding spring bar removal.

I recall that Jocke had some instructions for that...You might try his website.
With the right tool (actually I use a jewelers screwdriver) I've had luck with inserting either a toothpick and sliding a thin feeler gauge between the pin and case to keep the one side from snapping back in while taking out the opposite side.
SEL's have to pretty much be slid straight in and out

Steve, try a sewing pin. I've used that method quite a few times in the past and it was fairly trouble free.

I use a black bergeon (1mm) screwdriver that fits perfect to push the springbar straight down without risking to scratch the metal around it. Put your tumb on the back of the end piece, and push it away from the case while you're pushing the sprinbar down....
It's really easy to remove the bracelet, it's a little trickier to put it back on without scratching the *$&% out of the case.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info! :)
I have a Bergeon #3153 with a 1mm forked tip which should do the trick.
Jocke's forum has the answer, thanks Tools:

Now all I have to do is wait for the watch to arrive!

So you are going to remove the bracelet from a new watch. :?: :?:
Or is it to determine the serial number on a used watch. :?:

It's to verify the serial number on NOS I hope to be getting soon.
I do it this with all my watches and I photograph the s/n on the case for security purposes.
