SEA-DWELLER BRACELET ADVICE?

My SD came with the following inclusions::D

Outer Box (cream color) & Inner (presentation) box (green)

Certificate of guarantee document
Rolex Submariner booklet
Translation Booklet
Official Chronometer Certification (many languages)
Buehlmann Table/Decompression Limits Plastic Card
Plastic card 2 year calendar
Rolex tool for link removal and adjustment
Green leather wallet - 12 x 9cm
Cloth 14 x 9.5cm
Bezel protector - plastic
Swim Pruf tag
COSC Tag
Wet suit extension link marked 'L'
Wet suit extension link marked 'S'
Oyster SEL bracelet engraved # 93160 & OP4 with 5 links on 6 o'clock side and 8 links on 12 o'clock side - 13 links total (this does not include the SEL links between the lugs.)

This I would consider to be the correct compliment of items for this model watch, but the extra extension link raises a question in my mind. Is it the norm to get two sizes of wet suit links?

I have a 7.5 inch wrist size which I consider to be an average wrist size. With none of the links removed and with the 'S' size extension link already fitted, I am on the last clasp adjustment hole. After a week on the wrist, the bracelet size is fairly comfortable, but with the approach of summer, I have no leeway for a larger adjustment to compensate for hot weather expansion of the wrist. I do not wear my watches loose. I prefer them to be on the wrist rather than hanging off them like my wife's hairdresser wears his SMP! At the end of each day, I am seeing the oyster bracelet imprint fairly deeply in my wrist skin. My wife remarked it looks too tight and its a wonder my fingers aren't turning blue. I should state that she wears her watch like her hairdresser. Must be an in thing!

Will replacing the 'S' size extension link with the 'L' make any difference given that it is folded inside the clasp?

Will it be then possible to adjust the clasp for final fit ?

Any SD owner have any advice on this?

Thanks
Steve

i won't make any difference if i remember right! only when its deployed over a wetsuit. an additional screw link if you can't blag one isn't that expensive though

You'll need to have an extra link installed (here they cost $35 I believe).
It's not because you have a big wrist, it's because Rolex doesn't make the bracelets long enough on the sports models, in my opinion!
Good luck!
steve

here's a thought for you if your gonna buy an extra link anyway, maybe a "comfort Link" as that on the Daytona may appeal and will give you that flexibility on hot days

Thanks folks

The wet suit links in 2 sizes being only adjustable only while wearing a wet suit sounds a bit odd. I will swap it over and let you know.

If this doesn't work, another authentic Rolex bracelet link is around AU$70 here!:x

Well here I am back again. I have swapped the link over and it has given the bracelet a little extra length as it is definately looser and more comfortable, in fact its just right :-D

Another success story for the forum. :-D :-D

I'm surprised are you wearing it actually deployed? as the bar where it clips into remains fixed so would of i thought made no difference to general wear here's a nice pictorial of Johns[hope he doesn't mind]

I don't wear it deployed Steve.

Replacing the wet suit extension link 'L' with the 'S' has somehow made the bracelet looser on my wrist with the clasp closed, albeit by only a few millimetres.

No substitute for real life/hands on experiences

Hi Steve,

You were "short-changed" ONE whole link on the '12' side!!

Here's how an SD comes with all original links intact!!

Tardis

Thanks for posting the photo JJ. I see now what I am missing!

All the other stuff is all there, just missing one lousy screw link.

Just as well I didn't have a larger wrist.

The guy I bought it off told me that is how he got it.

A small price to pay considering the deal I got.

I am now looking for a spare link, starting with the AD in Brisbane.
