SAAB cars?

I was thinking about helping a friend out by paying off his 9-3
since he lost his job and his house and his wife...etc...
the payoff is 13k and the KBB is 15500 and it has 24k miles and a 2007 model 9-3.
I worry about what I read on the net....either they are OK or junk.
kind of a crap shoot from what I read...plus expensive to work on.
When I worked for IBM a guy had a 900 with 200k miles on it and loved it
but it was 88 or 89 model.
Its a nice car but for 13k I could get a Daytona and have money left over
and the daytona would hold vaule better.
Anybody drive a SAAB?
Ive owned nothing but Toyota's for 25 years....

I've never owned one but we had a guy at work who had one here in Saudi and another in the UK.  When he left he had a hell of a job selling it and had to virtually give it away.

The more I read and hear about them the more I would be better off with a Daytona and have money left over for a trip to Vegas.
Im in a point in my life where I dont wont to work on cars unless its some old 65/66 Mustang.

Gregg...I'd walk on it. It'sll be nothing but grief!

If you want to help your friend help him out by all means and loan him the dough. Let him buy you a watch as the interest payments.

Admirable gesture tho...kudos.

Run, don't walk, away from that. Spoke with someone last month who has a Saab convertible that she's paying on, is out of warranty, and she can't drive or afford to fix. Tough situation for sure.

They're a real SAAB STORY.
