Rufous bush-robinI've been trying to get this shot for the past four weeks. Finally on Friday, our lousy, dusty weather started to improve and I went to Badaan Farm in Bahrain. I spotted this guy and tried to creep up in my 4x4. To my delight, he flew onto some brush almost next to me and started singing.

We have a ringing or as they say in America, a banding project. One of our small group of bird watchers is a licensed ringer. We trap the birds in very fine nets and place an identity ring on the right leg. Measurements and weight are noted. If the bird is re trapped, we can tell how it's getting on etc. I f the bird is trapped elsewhere, it gives us an idea of migration patterns etc.
Larger birds can have mini transmitters attached and can be tracked by satellite. A rare bird called the Sociable lapwing was fitted with a transmitter last year and it led to the discovery of a previously unknown breeding ground with over 3,000 birds.
..............or maybe it's a fashion trend.

Thanks for explaining that uncle!
I would suggest putting some pavet diamonds on it next time to speed up the breeding proces of rare birds!
