Recap Of The First Month Of 2008Well...It's been a hectic month for an old retired watch hobbyist.
I mentioned a bit about my elderly parents and their heater going out right in the middle of winter. We got that back on line...
Then my sister, who cares for her disabled husband, called with an upstairs plumbing leak. We got a plumber to take care of that but it eroded the grout from the tiles in the shower where it leaked into. OK, that's simple enough for me, but it takes another couple of days out of my busy schedule and going back and forth to the Home Store to get stuff I can't seem to remember at the time I'm there...
I thought all was well when my daughter calls. Her less-than-capable husband was trying to fix up their rental townhouse but doesn't know how to fix the holes in the walls left by the previous tenents, and is baffelled by some of the electrical issues.. Well, that blows a perfectly good couple of days more.
All right.....The month is over and I'm now all caught up with all this stuff.....But I can't help but wonder...What's the rest of the year going to be like ????
And where did I find the time for all this when I actually worked for a living..
So how is everybody elses 2008 going ????????
Rant off.... Where the hell's my coffee cup ????????

Well we have had internet problems, in fact we are still suffering. It seems someone has cut a cable in Egypt and the whole network in this part of the world is clogged. This is the first time I've been able to log on and the site is very slow.
I've also had some HR issues with some of my guys at work, I won't go into details but they are not willing to accept a ruling that's been in place for a long time and they are causing me undue work I could well do without. I know the outcome will be status quo so why bother.

About four weeks ago I woke up on a Saturday morning and felt like a dishrag. So I rest on Saturday, and Monday. I call the Dr's on Monday and make an appointment to go see him. Turns out I had the flu. Lots of rest and fluids. Stay home. No problem. I go back to work on Thursday of that week.
Fast forward to last Wednesday, Jan 23. I start to get that feeling again when I'm at work. I finish the day and go home. Some chicken soup for dinner and right to bed. Wake up Thursday and feel great. Friday, same thing. During the day Friday, the feeling comes back. repeat Wednesday. Wake up Saturday, and I can barley move.
Rest and lots of fluid on Saturday and Sunday. Go to the Dr's on Monday he tells me it's bronchitis. Here's an antibiotic, rest, lots of fluids. Come back next Monday and we'll see how you feel then. Stay home.
Today I feel pretty good except for one thing. I still get tired very easily. If I'm up for an hr or so, I feel like I got hit by a bus. This sucks. I can't do anything at all. Hopefully the tiredness will go away soon. I would like to push myself and try to do something, but the Dr told me that if I don't take care of it this time, it will turn into pneumonia. That's the last thing I need.
But one good thing is I've been looking into vacations while I've been home. It looks like the Mrs and I are going to go to the Bahamas in April. We'll know more Monday

Thanks guys We're still working out dates to go and things like that so nothing's set in stone yet.
My sister also had a mishap. She fell at work and has a severe ankle sprain as a result. Physical therapy for at least four weeks. Plus she also has to wear an ankle brace and walk with a crutch for two more weeks.
Things can only get better
