Best present for hubby

OK guyz,

Question: If you were 28 years old, and you don't give a damn about Rolex watches, and you like TV.... what would you prefer to receive as a gift for a graduation (Master's degree)?
a. SS Rolex Submariner
b. 50 inch LCD flat screen TV

The answer might seem obvious, but a watch is forever.... a TV will brake down after a few years of extreem usage!

I don't know... I still have over a year before he'll graduate, but I want to know what to save for...
What do you think??

Thx, Mireyna
Tardis

He has no interest in watches at all????

That's tough..... what does he have on his wrist now?

I guess the TV will be it....that's if he really is big TV addict.

If you want to buy him a long term sentimental gift.... get him a nice gold signet ring.....that's if he's into rings.....some guys hate them... I'm one of them.

The Rolex or another fine Swiss watch would be the ultimate IMHO but you would have to discreetly find out his views on them....you have plenty of time, meantime start saving

Mireyna,

Does he wear a watch? If so I'd buy him the watch, as you say it will last a lot longer than a TV and I think he will grow to love it as it will always remind him of what you did.

I would buy him the watch. It's something that will last him forever as a reminder of what he accomplished. If for some reason he doesn't like it, he can always return it.

Mireyna,

It's sometimes hard to predict how people will react to gift from a loved one.

I can give two examples from my own experience. When my oldest son got married, my daughter-in-law asked me if I would help her get a watch for him.
As she wanted to buy the watch herself and of course not having a lot of money (so my help was no good) we found him a nice Seiko Cronograph that she could afford. My oldest has NEVER worn a watch and had no interest in them -- till now. He never takes it off save to shower. That it came from her means everything to him and while I would love to give him one of mine, I feel it would diminish what she did and wouldn't mean the same.

When my youngest son graduated from college and went in the service, I told him to pick any of the modern pieces I had. Again here was a person that never expressed any interest in watches save for a G-shock that he wore.
He couldn't grab my Explorer II white fast enough. LOL! He wears it constantly and is just so proud of it and the meaning behind it.

A gift like this is forever. It's amazing what that means to the recipient knowing from whom it came.

I'm going to go with the flow here Big..

The TV, while nice, is someting the two of you can go down and pick out for Christmas, anniversary, Super Bowl, or just because you both want one..

The watch is personal and comes from the heart..

And, dare I say it, if the Rolex Sub is out of reach, a great Omega SMP might be just the ticket...

Thank you all sooooo much for replying! It really means a lot to me!
I guess a watch it'll be....
I'll take him to an AD a couple of times before I make the final desicion on which one, so I can try to find out which one he likes the most.

Right now he has 3 different watches (all coming from me) but he will only wear the nicer one (Hamilton automatic) if I hand it to him (wound and set)! He appreciates the watch, but he "forgets" to wear it....

Thanks again my friends!
