Gee, I'm not in the same league as you AJ!
All I have is a Samsung 4.1 megapixel with a 5cm macro capability. I am hoping to get a more sophisticated one for Christmas. I just have to drop a few more hints to her!
Digital cameras here in Australia are becoming cheaper and cheaper, almost by the month.
I do like the Panasonic Lumix series.

To be honest Steve, I don't think I've used it. Most of my pictures are with the 300mm 2.8 and either a X1.4 or X2 TC. For macro work the 105 takes some beating and for general work I love the 18-200.

How do you like the fisheye Steve?
I had a battery grip for my D200 but took it off and did not use it much. I don't think I'll bother getting one for the D300.

Just got the fisheye [for my holidays] it will make those boring shots/snaps much more interesting IMHO capturing those holiday moments with a fun perspective, to compliment that holiday mood! . I think you'd really like the battery grip!!! especially for BIF's 6fps seems pretty fast to me but even if you didn't use the extra fps with AA's/el4 the shutter button [which some seem to dislike because of the fact] seems way more sensitive responsive I love it, just got the one el4 in the grip so dont have to keep removing the grip , nice solid mateing of camera and grip too made of magnesium just like the body matches cosmetically wise perfectly form as well as function IMO .
Kinda funny but I'm really enjoying the sheer bulk and complexity [though user friendly IMO D300] of my new set up, exactly the things some would quote to steer newbies away from DSLR's
