New yacht master

I saw the new yacht master in my local AD today. Sometimes a watch looks better in the flesh than in pictures but in my opinion, it still looked ghastly. Steven, the guy who works in the shop asked me my opinion and said he would be reporting customers viewpoints back to Rolex. This got me thinking they realised, they have made a mistake.

My feelings were the bezel was too blue, the face awful and I had difficulty reading the seconds sub dial, even with my reading glasses on. Sorry, not for me.

I too think the Yachtmaster is a bit ugly.

The dial is just too busy and I hate to wear a watch that might look smarter than me.

That's why I don't wear a Timex.

I'm not fond of the Blue one either....However, I did see the stainless (or is it platinum) version.

I thought it was a much better looking watch in person than in the overblown pictures we tend to see..

It's still a bit busy for my taste. I understand how a regatta works, but I don't yet know if I would want to time one with this watch. The new movement is, I'm sure, a technical marvel.. but it would take some getting used to and considerable practice to be smooth..

The price is astronomical and will be the main reason for their rarity...

I agree, the movement is a marvel but I doubt a true yachtsman would use it. More for the rich wannabe yachtsman in my opinion.

I actually like the look of this watch alot, especially the one in white gold/platinum!
I think for most people it's such a shock that Rolex came up with this design that's so different from anything they've done before, that most Rolex-connoisseurs automatically don't like it.
(I remember when I saw the little Smart car for the first time, I said "I wouldn't even want it if they gave me money on top of it", untill my boss got one, and let me have it for a week! I loved it!)
The money does make it an article I'll probably never own, but hey, maybe one day they'll offer it in SS... :)

Well their efforts have not been in vain then and I hope you manage to get one sometime.

You know, the White Gold version ( heck I'm not real sure if it's WG or Plat.) looks pretty good. :D

It's white gold and platinum. The bezel and dial are platinum (like the original yachtmaster) and the rest is white gold.
