New Crystal....A couple of years ago, I was working in the shop and reacted to a minor incident by jerking my hand suddenly away, smacking my watch on one of my machine tools..
This resulted in a large chunk of the crystal being broken........... I was so miffed, I just put it in the "broken watch" box and walked away. This was only a couple of years out of a service, and I'm too cheap to send them off every time something happens...........
So, it sat for the past couple of years waiting for me to get around to it..
Well, I just got it back from having the crystal replaced and the movement cleaned and oiled. It's a 1997 T series GMT 16700 - and it feels really good to have it back up and looking good again..
I'll wear it for a few of days. Geeez, I hope I don't break it again...

Next time you feel like putting a watch like that in the "Broken watch box" and walking away, send it to me instead. A watch as good looking as that deserves lots of wrist time.

I have enough watches that need repairs in the "broken watch" box that I could go broke with just that....
Many of them aren't worth the repairs so will probably stay broke...but a few.....such as the 1962 Omega Seamaster I did a couple of months ago, and this one take a pretty good chunk out of the "hobby" fund..
Probably won't do any more this year, we have to pay for a Cruise to Hawaii pretty soon (our Christmas this year), but I do have an old Sub next in the queue....

If it helps, I could go to Hawaii on your behalf.
