Late Grandfather's Oyster Date is home!!!!

She's back.

1957 Oyster Date, purchased by my grandfather when he was stationed in Singapore.

I'm the third owner of this watch...it's been to most continents, submerged in many oceans around the world, been almost destroyed by saltwater but she's abck after a service and looks as good as new.

Tylden Reed had her since Feb 08 and his work is top notch. Bracelet parts and new clasp supplied by Steve Mulholland for an amazing price.

Best part of it all...only cost me £240 inc Vat and return postage.

Pics...

a beauty which I have been lucky to see in person, the dial and gilt writing is better in person and the riveted bracelet is very elegant. Having the documentation and boxes is also special, hope you can get the extra links Jim

See the GTG thread old boy.

The jewellers toolkit and a pair of needlenose pliers came in extra handy once I was drunk enough to dare have a go at it!!!!!

Just wish I had wore it yesterday!

Tis a real beauty Jim, money cant buy the riches and history that that watch possesses, may you and many of your future generations wear that watch in the very best of health.

Thanks again to everybody.

The watch is special, I'm so glad so many of you feel the same way as I do.
