Many may recognize me from other locales.  I've been meaning to Join AJ's forum for some time.  Circumstances allowed me the opportunity to stop procrastinating.  Mireyna has already welcomed me via PM, so I am feeling at home already!  I look forward to hopefully being a positive contribution.  I also love nature photography, so this is an added bonus!

Also a public welcome to you David!
Carolina

Hey David, great to see you!!
uncle aj

Hello David and welcome to my little forum.
Lisa

Hi, David.  Hi, everybody.  I, too, came wandering over after hearing very nice things about Adrian's site.

I already posted whilst drooling over baby Ileana, but hadn't officially said hello here.  I signed up this weekend, too, and look forward to learning my way around!

Hello Lisa.
Lisa

Hi, Adrian.  Do you prefer being called AJ or Adrian?

It doesn't matter, you can call me anything except early in the morning.

Which reminds me, I've got to get the time thing figured out.  I don't know how many hours from GMT I am, here in Oklahoma.  It's almost 10:30 pm but the post time is about 6 hours ahead.  I tried to adjust the time on my profile page but I don't think I did it right.

I've just had a look at the system set up and it's defaulted to GMT.  When I set this thing up, I was working in the dark.  It doesn't come with any instructions but there is a very good Help Website.  I don't like messing with the forum as whenever I've messed in the past, things have tended to go astray.  You can't complain too much though as it's free.

Edit.

I've just been to the help forum and all you do is alter the time in your profile.  The system GMT time is for all new users.  When they sign on it's up to them to alter the time to their timezone.
Lisa

And I got it to work last night, Adrian.  I had been setting it but then not saving the changes.  D'oh!  Thanks.

Too lazy to read all the posts, but what David is saying is change to military time and add 6 hours.  So let's say it is 2:00pm CST. Then it would be 20:00 GMT or (2:00 pm civilian time equals 14:00 Military plus 6 hours to change to GMT).  Or to put in another way, if it is 20:00 GMT, then subtrack 6 hours to get 14:00 military, which is 2:00 pm for us regular folks.  When the time changes to DST, then it will be -5 for you guys.
Lisa

Thanks, guys.  I actually did get it figured out, by trial and error.  I subtracted hours until it came up with the right time for the Central zone.

Joe, I have some experience with military time from all my years as an obstetrics technician.  Hospital time's military,  too.  But even so, your post made sparks and smoke come out of my ears and I think a little gray matter too.

Well said Joe!  That's why you and I are a team!

Now that Big Bird is here, that may be tomorrow!
Lisa

I just hope Big Bird and my other favorite people will stop in often so I can keep in touch.  Email is good, too, but it's nice to have one place to "see" everyone.

You're very kind, Adrian. I'm glad you  don't mind letting me be YOUR pain in the neck for a while!
Carolina

Lisa, just thought I'd mention that you only have 3 posts to go before you become experienced!!

My car is always parked under a bunch of trees, because here in the South, they don't build garages. I'm always annoyed by all the bird poop on my black car. Well, please don't fly by my house any time soon!
