IT ARRIVED TODAY

I my previous post I mentioned I had traded my D series No date Submariner. Although I really liked the watch, it had to go for these reasons.

They were:
I missed having a date on my daily wear watch. I made mistakes, like writing out an invoice with the wrong date. Signing and incorrectly dating another document which almost got me into trouble until my wife spotted it. She even said "For goodness sake get a watch with a date". I thought 'Ah, here's my chance!'

I do not care for the cyclops date on Rolex. To me it just seems to spoil the dial. So what was my alternative? Buy outside of Rolex? No, been there and done that before and lamented what I did.

I have always lusted after a Sea Dweller. To me it's the top of the ladder in the Rolex sport range and it is sans the cyclops!

I phoned an AD in Brisbane and a young female voice told me that the she had the latest 'M series in the shop and would I care to come and look at it? She was surprisingly very knowlegeable about the model and discussed things like MSLP (Mean Sea Level Pressure) BARS and the advantages of having a watch that can withstand water pressure to 1,740 pounds per square inch, I casually asked about the price. She said that the 16600 could be mine for just AU$7535 (US$6693). Whew!

I made some other calls and found one of my reputable grey dealers informed me that he had just recieved a 'Z' series NOS and yes, he would trade my 14060M. After the usual $ haggle, we agreed on a price and my new Sea Dweller arrived today, pristine and very neatly packaged complete with all the accessories that accompany this fantastic model.

After making the bracelet adjustment with the supplied tool, the watch fits my wrist perfectly. I didn't require the larger 'L' size clasp extension link that was inside the wallet as the 'S' size was just right with all the links in.

Here are the first photo's I took today (01OCT07). I forgot the bezel protector is still in place!

Congratulations Steve and wear it in good health. :D

It's a timeless design but I sure hope you don't need to test that water pressure.
