Introducing myself and asking

Hello everyone,

I am new to this website but it looks quite a good one.. seems like there are a lot of people with quite a vast knowledge and experience about watches!
I am wondering to buy a watch and I would like some advice from your point of view. I actually fell in love with this Rolex, does anyone have advices, or just can tell what's an honest price for this watch?

thank you all!

regards,

Sfra

Hello Sfra and welcome.

I'm not that knowledgeable on Submariners but the price doesn't appear that bad for a 2006 model.  You really need to be careful though and it's just as important to know the seller as geting a good price.

I would recommend you shop around and compare.  If you're looking for a used one there are some reputable grey market dealers to choose from.

I'm hopeless on prices, I thought it was expensive.

If the watch is indeed "mint" as stated.......... and mint means as-new, then the price is probably a couple of hundred dollars higher than it should be, so if it's possible to negotiate with this seller, I would.

Subs are very popular watches and there are plenty of them out there in the 3500 to 3900 dollar range for those less than 10 years old..

Now, this is from the perspective of the western USA.......  other countries and locales may have a very different availability and price structure for  Subs.......

Hello,
thank you all for your kind reply.
I don't think it's so expensive actually... I found the very same Rolex Submariner Date 16610 (Mint) on the very same website for 1200$ more... just crazy -.-
How ever I really think Flatlander is right, I am worried about the seller; should I pay the same watch 1500$ more and buy it in the shop 500m from home, or get it cheaper trusting a seller I never met?
you know, I never bought such an expensive item on internet, but 1500$ it's a huge save...
What kind of credentials you think I should ask the seller before buying it through internet?

thank you all for your nice advices

I think you have answered your own question.  You're worried about the seller and this is a legitimate concern.  There is so much fraud on the internet and most credentials can be easily faked.  I'm not sure what assurance an unknown seller could offer me to gamble that amount of money.

$1,500 is a considerable savings but $4,250 could be a terrible loss!  I think your caution may be well placed and would recommend you look eslewhere.  There are some legitimate grey dealers out there with competitive prices (Alan Furman comes to mind).  Should you elect to spend the extra $1,500 or whatever the extra might be with someone you trust, it will be buying you peace of mind and help guarantee the authenticity of the item.
