Dave, did you manage to install it over Vista or XP or did you have to do a clean install and clear your computer?
PS The lights will never go out in Lancashire.

People give Windows a hard time and well....
uhhhh....
yeah....
so....
yeah....
you'll be ok I guess.
Seriously, for the average home user, pretty much an OS will be fine. I'm sticking with XP until the finally pull the plug, then, I'll probable go Ubuntu permanently.
What is Ubuntu you ask? Think Mac OS for a PC, except it is open source like Firefox. Works good for everything except PC games.

It was an upgrade over Vista, I never clean installed it, I would not know how to back up all my files, the task manager came in 3 parts, all 3 had to be downloaded untill the download started, surprisingly for me it ended up being quite easy.

Thanks Dave. Do you know how big the download was? I'm on a limited download agreement here and I must be close to my limit.

I dont know Adrian, but there is another download that I used before buying W7, it assesed my computer to see if it could handle Windows 7, I typed "windows 7" in google and then went to the main windows website shop.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I've already installed the programme to check for compatibility. I just wondered about the rest. I'll do a search to see if I can find out.

Based on the reviews I thought MS got it right this time, but seems that people are having issues on almost all the forums I read. Of course, probably a gazillion users are upgrading so maybe it's not representative for what many are experiencing.

The download manager came in 3 bits.
1. = 69.7MB
2. = 137 MB
3. = 2.03GB
Not sure if that is the info you need Adrian hope it helps.
