Hey Kids, I Got Your Number - Literally

I've assigned a number to each person who has indicated that s/he wants to participate in the Pollyanna.  I apologize in advance if I forgot anyone.  Just post on this thread if you wish to participate and/or were inadvertently overlooked.  Grab the next number in sequence, beginning with 15.  Alright, here we go . . .

1.  Joe aka Bubba (BigBird)

2.  Frans (GoodWatch)

3.  Mireyna (Abs)

4.  Bitsy (Jimbits76)

5.  Caroline (Carolina)

6.  Lisa (Lisa)

7.  Martin(a) (JDC)

8.  Nancy (away36)

9.  Al (Alcan)

10. Dave (daveathall)

11. Leo (Lion)

12. Martin (Deep Sea)

13. Jim (JimSnyder)

14. Faith (Taffi Abernathy)

We need to decide on who will do the drawings - one for the giver and one for recipient.

P.S.  Sign up open until 11/30/09
Lion

Faith, since you have taken the lead in organizing this event I say you go ahead and pick/decide.

P.S. If I draw your name I'll send you a check!!!  LOL!!!

Leo,

It is tradition in my family to have a couple of zeros in front of the decimal point, so if you pull my name, trade it with an unsuspecting innocent.

way to go Faith

Faith, I can write a check with plenty of zeros before and if you like after the decimal point!!!
Deep Sea

I don't like my number...can I have a different one, please?

Just kidding!  Thanks for putting this together, Faith.

Here is my thinking . . .  It seems reasonable to spend approximately $20 to $25 per gift, but if people prefer, I can always take a poll offering a wider range.  I would like to wait until the deadline of November 30th to give others the opportunity to participate.  I will randomly pair and post gift givers and recipients on 12/1, so that you will be apprised of the person for whom you will be purchasing a gift as well as from whom you will be receiving a gift.  Since I am a participant, if you would feel more comfortable selecting a nonparticipant to to do the actual drawing, I understand.  Please provide feedback and let me know if this sounds ok or if you have other ideas.  Thanks, Faith

Also indicate whether you want to list items you want to receive or would prefer that the person just use his or her judgment.
Carolina

Faith. that sounds fine. Personally, I'd rather my person use their own judgment with my gift (and I'm hoping they'll let me do the same, unless I'm absolutely stumped).

However, I'm flexible!

You get two people like that together and there'd be a whole lot of nothing going on.

I agree Carloine   The fun is in the surprise. I am also more comfortable with a $25 max as that is in keeping with the Secret Santa principle
Jimbits76

I'm just gonna buy a gift and whoever I get picked is getting it.

Please let me get Bubbs, Please let me get Bubbs xxx

I think it's great that you're willing to take on the task of drawing numbers for us. Thanks Faith! I agree with Martin....the $25.00 max works best with the Secret Santa theme. I'm not good with lists. Anything at all would be a fun gift because of the very nature of the game!!

Does that have anything to do with your gift?

Hey ole' ShrimpTaco76, my gift to you will keep on giving.

Faith, count me in, too, for the $25K limit.

Did I just make a mistake there?  I can't tell.

The tricky part is finding the right gift. Who wants a box with stinky cheese?

You know if I had the funds and the right contact that on Christmas morning you would awaken to the most exquisitely packaged gift from afar.

Pulling the golden silk ribbon and unfastening the shiny, lavish handmade wrapping paper you would uncover a small box.

Inside the box it could only be one thing...

A Schuco Magico!!!!!

Well it's the thought that counts!

Listen up, you guys who haven't decided or are just finding out about the Uncle AJ Holiday Pollyanna, you have 22 days left to sign up for what can only be described as frivolity, fanfare & festivities.   Ok, now I'll   !

For those of you who are choosing not to sign up, I'll be forced to pay you a personal visit along with my record collection.  You will be tied to a chair and forced to listen to every damn recording    ever made (his younger sister's records too!)

Sacre bleu! I would like to see the expression on the face of the customs officer who has to inspect that package   A weapon of mass destruction!

I'm feeling a bit brighter today....

Must be the onset of Chrristmas festivities.

All together now;

There's only one thing I want from you, Dutchie.  And I've been waiting for that package for at least 4 years now.

Quit smoking, it´s better for your health!
Lion

Faith, I'm fine with whatever you decide the limit should be. As for this crazy bunch of mixed nuts good luck in organizing a plan!!!
away36

Faith? Any chance we could move the date to a week earlier? I'm a bit concerned about finding time to get out and find a gift and get it shipped in time if there's considerable distance involved.
Taffi Abernathy

Nancy,

I think that will be fine.  Suppose then, that we change the deadline to sign-up to no later than 9/23.  That should be sufficient time to pick out an appropriate gift for our vict-, I meant, pollyannas.
Take care, Faith

As I said, 12/23 is the new deadline.   Tee hee hee.  Ok, make it 11/23!

DEADLINE:  NOVEMBER 23, 2009.

Everytime I try to post while still half asleep and minus caffeine, I inevitably make mistakes.  I'm getting better though, at least I posted in the correct thread.  The trusty terrier and I are heading out for some caffeine.  Have a great day, kids!
