Hello boysHi there. Nice to see you all. Nice , a birding forum within a watch forum, perfect combo.
I got a new set of binoculars the swaros SLC WB new 10x42 , nice ones I am enjoying it a lot.
The Leicas Ultravid 12x52 are too big and heavy to all purposes birding which I use from home. I am fortunate enough to watch some fine birds from my apartment, kingfishers, all sort of gulls and many sea birds.
I need a nice camera to take some pictures.

by the way AJ in connection with the binoculars I have those 3 because the Zeiss classic was given to me by my father , it has sentimental value besides its incredible quality. Then I decided to buy something newer since they classics are 30 years old. After much consideration I decided to get the Leicas 12x52. Incredible optics, quality etc, hard to match. The problem is that they are quite heavy and large in size and being used to the 10x42 classics I was not feeling confortable carrying the Leicas during safaries.
Then I decided to get something more versatile and new it was then when I got the swarovski slc 10x42. Perfect ones if you ask me.
Now I keep the Leicas at home to watch birds from y apartment, the zeiss in the car and I take the swaros for traveling . :-)

it is money well spent.
Which one do you have?
I would like to get a telescope with x60 the problem is that I am not much into standing still and carry the tripod around, I like to walk. However being able to see some of birds with x60 or x60 magnification must be superb . Expensive toys though.... :-)

I got mine cheaper because Trinovids were being replaced by Ultravids. They used to be £900 and I got them for £600.

that is a very good price, binos are getting really expensive. I paid 1200 euros for the swaros and they sell them in spain for 1400.
I bought them in Namibia I played with the favorable exchange rate and got a better deal.
How are the watch prices in the middle east? any better than in Europe?

Some prices are better, depending on the watch. To be honest I have not priced anything up lately but I can tell you, food prices have gone up.

You could do with a few galley slaves or a full set of sails.
