Eye eye

Got bored last night waiting for tea to be cooked so I decided to have a little mess around with these photos:

It ended up like this ->

in case anyone is interested

Starting with the eye shot I created a duplicate layer and then flipped this vertically. Using layermask painted out the top image until I got a nice blend, this layer was then duplicated, rotaed 90 degrees then flipped vertically to make sure the shaddow/high light areas mated up as best as possible. Again used layer mask to paint out the layer until I was happy with the blend (actually still needs some work).

Once done I created a square selection of the crown of the head and used a twirl filter.

the layers were then merged.

Next I used 2 adjustment layers, brightness/contrast and channel mixer. Channel mixer was set to blue then monochrome (this applies quick 100% blue filter) the green and red channels were then played with a little.

Next went back to the background layer (result of the combined images) and duplicated it setting the blend option to multiply.

To add the face in I went to the 2nd original image and pasted it in between the background layer and the duplicate (multiply) layer.

This blocked out the bottom layer whilst the multiply layer gave a good outline of where the face was going to appear in the final image.

Using a layer mask on the face I painted out the eyes, this enabled the bottom layer to come through and be visible in the areas painted out. This layer was then also set to multiply but the resultant image was a bit too grey.

A new adjustment layer, gradient map, was then applied to strengthen the bw feel (some dodging was then required on the image layers to reduce some of the overly strong shaddows caused as a result of the multiply blend options)

not the best example but strange all the same :D

I thought it was an optical illusion.

:D I'm going to go and remove some more areas so that some of the top layer wrinkles dont blend through to the lowest level which will mean the face with no eyes will be ultimately blended a bit better

Have a go at mine in the General Section.
