DeepSea at Gray DealerWhoa, guys. I was at our friendly OKC gray dealer - a well respected place - and there is a DeepSea in the display case. The two ADs in town have none in stock and what few they did have were spoken for ahead of time. It was a treat to see one up close and personal. It really is huge - very thick, substantial case. I'd think it'd take a hefty wrist to look proportional. It's marked $8400, but the shop owner said he would do better for a good customer.
Anybody want me to pick it up for them?

I admire tlhe workmanship and tecnology that a company can cram into a simple watch. It's pretty amazing. However, the Deepsea is just one of those watches that doesn't appeal to me..
Maybe it's the size.. I still think that a 40mm Sub is a big watch, the DSSD is huge and I don't think that I would ever spend any time wearing it and enjoying it..

Apparently many share your feelings, Larry - including the guy who sold it to the gray dealer after owning it only a month.
I told my husband about it and he'll go look at it this afternoon, but I think his excitement over it has cooled a lot, too. The shop owner said he'd take $7800 for it. What is current retail? About $9k?

That's very kind of you Lisa. Although I don't care for it's size you could pick it up for me.....oh wait a minute did you want money?
I guess I'll have to pass since the wife said we need to spend the money on groceries, etc.

Actually, after 45 years together, she is very understanding and spoils me rotten. I have bought 5 Rolexes over the past year and a half and she never blinked.
The last was a new DD president three months ago. She has a great sense of humor and jokingly asked if this was going to impact our eating out.

Ah, then let me pick up that DeepSea for ya. If you're eating out, no need for grocery money, right? Sure sounds logical to me!
