thanks adrian for your comments. I trying my best to catch up to your standard. I've got to learn a lot from you. I haven't been to the airport lake yet, but will try to visit this thursday or friday.

What is the best time to go there?

I prefer the morning there as I think the light comes from the right direction.  In the afternoon I used to feel I was always shooting the wrong way.  Be careful when you are there, I've never had any problems but you never know with security and being in close proximity to the airport.  Just keep a low profile and you should be OK.

Pityof a photographer

Hi Adrian,

Today my friend was shooting at the al khobar jetty at around 1:00 in the afternoon. A saudi dressed in casuals came up to him saying that he is a coast Guard officer and ordered him to stop shooting. Initially my friend threw deaf ears and continued shooting and he immediately caught hold of the camera and produced his identity which showed that he was a cop. He then called up to the "Shoorta" law and order police and they rushed to the spot and took him to the poice station. After viewing the images in the camera they praised him for his work but asked him to delete all the seagull, terns and plover images, which in their wildest dreams never get to know them.

The captain initially said to go away but the coast guard said that he is using a zoom lens and is spying the coast guard office and he left.

The captain said politely that shooting on the coastal area is prohibited and since you are an expat, behave like an expat and abide by the rules and regulations. They made him sit for 4 hours and later took his initials on a paper which read that i will not repeat this mistake again in future and let him go.

Actually we planned to shoot together today and i reached an hour late to the site otherwise i would have suffered with him.

If photographing is prohibited then why do they sell all the photography equipment with prime lens and zoom lens?

Please be careful while shooting in this country.

Regards
Rahil

This why I always keep a low profile.  Saudis are so suspicious, they are unreal.
