Catching up.Seems I am catching up on my threads. A while back I asked what colour roof to put on our cabin and it was split between green and dark red. Well, the wife finally choose and here are the pictures. I went ahead and built a screen in pourch on 3/4s of the back. I was not in the mood to move the power so I did not run it the whole length of the house. Due to slope of the land I had to pour a concrete slab and footer. The last picture is looking out from the pourch at the lake. Well, I do need to remove some trees. The back side of the property is around 20 acres thus, the lake is pretty far away. I will remove the trees sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. A few of my friends hunt turkey, dove, quail, and deer on the property. There are deer blinds and feeders all over the property. Too cold for me, but the son gets up at 4:00am and goes hunting. I just sleep.

Joe, your house and porch look great and know once all your work is done you will have plenty of time to relax. But why are you going to remove trees form the screened in porch side?

That is the debate going on in our household. I want the trees for firewood and to be able to see the lake. The wife wants the cabin in the middle of the woods look. Alas, she will most likely win if I can't change her mind.

Joe, I'd quit while you are not ahead. She is going to win and this time I agree with her leave the trees!!!

And to think the wife accuses me of being a tree hugger.

I agree with your wife -- keep the trees! Also, I see that you went with my color choice. Didn't I pick red? Maybe it was green?
It looks great!

Leave it to me to find the middle ground. I say cut 4 or 5 of the trees closest to the house. Split and stack. None of that rood will be any good this year anyway so let it season 1 year then next year cut 2 trees and burn some of the seasoned wood. Each year cut, split and stack 2 trees all the while working a path to the water. You get firewood and access to the water, wife gets wooded lot and privacy from the lake side too. Everyone is happy.

Bill, that's a good compromise.

Wow - what a place, Joe. Now, I thought you were planning a metal roof but I like what you decided to do.
Trees - I'd keep as many as possible - but that's just me....
It looks like SE Oklahoma...
Geez, you work hard. Always some big project - and you do them single handedly?

Sorry Faith, I suppose you could take the laptop to the toilet, just in case.
