Broken stemI have come by a watch that has a broken stem.
The watch stem was pulled out to set the time, it was dropped, hit the crown and the stem snapped off..
ETA movement, but an unusual screw down crown..
Is this a common repair, easy to do by a normal watchmaker. ?

I would have thought a stem replacement was easy enough but the crown is unusual and a replacement will probably need to be obtained from the watch manufacturer. If this was not possible, I'm sure a reputable watchmaker will be able to transfer the old crown to a new stem. It does not look that difficult if you have the right tools.

I allowed my friend to borrow my Tutima once. It hadn't been worn in a few days so the power reserve had run out. He was unaware that the crown had to be UNSCREWED to reset the time so he used a pen cap to PRY the crown out to the second position  . Needless to say, the crown broke free from the stem and went flying across the room :cry: . It had to be sent back to Tutima in Germany for a stem and crown replacement. The repair ended up costing about $400 US
