Bad Weather In Red Rock Canyon.Red Rock Canyon Conversation Area is one place I like to hike and get away from the crowds........Although everybody thinks they're an "environmentalist" now days and crowd the trails leaving their trash behind, making the roads look like rush hour on weekends..
Low cloud ceilings, rain, and poor light make taking photos difficult....but I did anyway, even though I don't expect to keep any..... shallow depth-of-field, slow shutter speeds, and flat light sure make the place look different.
Here is a Climber who should know better than to do this in a potential rainstorm and desert flood conditions..... It goes right along with playing golf in a thunderstorm:
Around this corner is a place called White Rock where the sandstone has lost it's red color:
A short half mile hike off the road is a place called Lost Creek. During most of the year there is no water flowing over the upper rocks..
A fire came through the area last year and the scars are everywhere:
This was on some rocks above the trail. Hard to tell if it is natural erosion or an aged man-made specimen.
Hundreds of acres of ancient slow-growing Pear Cactus and Joshua trees may never recover:

Looks kind of eerie Larry. I agree about the climber, obviously he has not heard of flash floods.

Looks like a great place to do some hiking/backpacking. I mostly hit the Appalachian Trail and some offshoots around here which are getting more crowded by the year.
