Never did get that small compact in the duty free zone this summer, its a bugger taking wrist shots with a fully loaded DSLR  and to be honest, guess i'm just lazy there's times i just can't be bothered lugging a DSLR and if you haven't got a cam with you , you'll never catch that moment

well this may just tip the scales you may recall i mentioned my G7 zoom feature had gone , took it apart myself a tiny little curly pigtail spring seems to have gone...quoted by jessops £130

I like the look of that Steve, although I'd like a bigger zoom. These new compacts are top class and some have features equal to a DSLR. I've seem some digiscoped pictures from users of these compacts and they are very good. 
Go for it. 
PS I have an old Pentax Optio 550 that I usually carry around, just in case. It's a bit dated now but I'd have to make a convincing argument to the missus to replace it.
