Almost

I took this late yesterday afternoon.  The lens I had on the camera has a fault and on my D300, stops focusing after a while when using "Active Focus" on my D3 it freezes the camera after one shot.  I wonder if I'd have got this shot perfectly if it had been working correctly.  BTW it goes back to the repair shop in London when I pop home for a week at the end of next week.

That's a great capture! The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Looks like he is doing some serious aerial acrobatics to catch that bug which makes it tough to get the focus spot on. Excellent job.

p.s. What kind of bird is it?

It's a European bee-eater.  They are beautifully coloured and amazing to watch.  Here's one I took last year.

That is a beauty and a lovely shot. I bet they are something to watch.
