The North Sawyer glacier is one that requires a 20 mile voyage up narrow straights, and if the water isn't too full of ice and flow, the results are spectacular..
A shot of the face, which is several hundred feet high: There is little around to give perspective, but the larger floating icebergs dwarfed our 110,000 ton ship and didn't allow any further travel. We stopped about 4 miles short of the actual face.
Some of the ice that breaks off has had the air pressed out leaving very dense ice giving some beautiful blue colors.
