Accutron or BulovaHi everyone!Can anyone tell me what's the difference between Accutron and Bulova? I saw a watch from Accutron which I think is very nice and also as a good price. It's called Gemini. I wanted to know more about it and I looked for a Accutron website and I found out it doesn't exist really; seems like Accutron is a sub-brand of Bulova. Moreover I looked for this "Gemini" but the one I could find on Bulova website is completely different from the Accutron I liked! In the one I saw there is a small "hole" just below the 12 showing the inside of the watch, just to mention the most catchy thing, but they are really different! If you know more, thanks for sharing :)

I used to use this Accutron pocket watch in the 60's..
It still runs and is as accurate as ever..

I think Accutron is a higher end watch than Bulova.
Same make with a diff name. I have a Accutron VX automatic and an old Accutron Astronaut from the mid 60's |

I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but wasn't Accutron originally a tuning fork line?

I think you are right, they were the forerunner of quartz watches. A tuning fork vibrated around about 300Hz which at the time was a lot more accurate than a mechanical movement. I had an Omega with this system but unfortunately it broke and I couldn't get it repaired. |
