A very strange ternA couple of weeks ago a group of us went to a small island where lesser-crested terns breed. I took a picture of what at first I thought was a tern flying upside down, then wondered if it had terned it's head (pun intended). Someone has suggested it could have been shaking it's head after drinking. I've also seen them going into convulsions when they leave the water to shake themselves dry. The pictures could have been taken at that moment and froze the movement. |
