A very rare bird
The sociable lapwing, on the endangered list and my first observation. I almost ran over the bird, it was flushed as I drove near to it. It disappeared for a short while and then was spotted again by a friend who had been alerted to the sighting. This is a young bird so hopefully there's a future for the species.

These are on the endangered list due to the rapid decline from hundreds of thousands to hat was thought to be a few thousand. Due to radar tracking, an unknown wintering site was found, which increased the known population to 11,000. Hopefully they will start to increase in the future.
