I had to get out today and shoot something and try out the new lens so this is the best I could do.... `

Nice shots.......
I imagine the water beads on his back are nice and sharp in the original resolution....

Thanks Larry. I'm still learning so I was just playing around with the lens trying to see what I could come up with and I didn't have a lot of time. Later on in the day I popped over to another small lake close to my house and very briefly caught a glimpse of a red headed woodpecker (not sure of the correct name) and was able to get off one shot while he was in the shade before he disappeared. Too bad he didn't land a couple of inches to the right.

Not birds but a couple of others I took today. So far I'm really pleased with the lens but I'm easily impressed.

I feel a bit guilty. Last week I bought a D3 body and so far the only pictures I've taken have been through the window. Now you've posted those pictures (nice Canada goose BTW) I think I'd better stop being a wimp and brave the cold.

Congrats on the D3 Adrian! That's a heck of a camera. It's been cold here lately but today it's supposed to be in the 60's F so I'll be out taking advantage of that. The geese and ducks better watch out.

Thanks, I'm very impressed with it so far. Unfortunately I only have two lenses here, an 18-35mm and a 200-500mm. I'll try to get out and about with it next week but we have to sort out some new windows and doors for the house and that will take priority.
