A lot of emphasis has been placed on having an in-house movement as a criteria for buying a particular piece.
So, The Swatch Group includes....Omega, Breguet, Glasshutte Original, Longines, Tissot, and Hamilton as well as many others, and also the ETA company.
IWC and Brietling use "modified" ETA movements..
So, would an ETA movement be in-house for an Omega and a Glashutte ?
If IWC and Brietling use about the same movement as Omega, what would really make one "better" than another. ?
They claim they take ETA movements and "modify" them, however, those modifications are ambiguous and if you modify it a bit too much it won't work, or if you could modify it a lot, you could make your own.... _________________ - Larry

Rolex, Audemars, Lange, etc.. those make their own movements, not re-work existing ebauches.
I have a Rolex, but I am honestly not a movement guy and have found that my reworked Unitas movement in my Panerai and totally reworked Valjoux 7750 in the Big Bang are as or more accurate than any watch I have owned.
I will say that the new style GMT gained 1 second in 2 weeks, but my BB gained 2 over the same 7 day period. Both are great watches, I just happen to go for what is outside the case, nothing wrong with loving the inside of the case.
I have a buddy that will only collect watches like Patek, Audemars and Lange since if the movement is not in house, he won't wear it.

I've thought about this myself too. I'm not much of a movement guy either. But, I look at some of the outsourced brands like Omega and find that they're every bit as accurate as any Rolex I've ever owned. _________________ Me? I'm still looking for Kokomo
