The weather was good, so I made a walk with the 50D.

I still have a lot to learn about this camera with all the features.
But still very very happy I bought this set.

And @ home..

The new camera seems to be performing very well Gerard.  There are some tricky exposures there but it seems to have coped OK.  Very nice pictures and the one of the white house with three cars in front on curved road, looks very similar to a village we stopped in on one of my bike tours.  There was a cafe / restaurant with a small eating area outside and inside was an area for the kids that had a very small doorway that only kids could get through.

Nice set of shots Gerard.

I had a look at a couple of them and see that you are using auto mode. As an experiment try selecting aperture priority (AV) mode. Using one of the dials you can then adjust the aperture and the camera will adjust shutter speed to suit. Try taking shots of the same subject with different AV settings.
Wide open your lens is F4 but you will find a difference in sharpness as you change settings. I find mine gives best results around F6- F8. Watch the shutter speed though.
