Seamaster

I've been thinking about picking up a Seamaster and the one that I am interested in is the 2220.80.00 because I like the blue, the skeleton hands and the newer movement. It has nothing to do with James Bonds and wouldn't mind the 212.30.41.20.01.001 if it weren't for the 007 branding.

Any thoughts on this particular model or the caliber 2500?

The 2500 movements were the original ETA movements fitted with a Co-axial module. Because the co-axial module was not designed to work at the higher speeds, 28,800 BPH, they had to be slowed down, yet they still ate up the gears with the added pressure..

So........ they went through the 2500 A, the 2500B, and are now at the 2500C modifications to the movement....

I would think that if you get a recent model, it will likely be a 2500C, and would not exhibit the early issues..

I'm waiting until they get the 8500 production geared up and start putting those in the Seamaster.......

The 8500 movement would be preferred, but who knows how long it will take before they enter the Seamasters and at what price point.

I would say that most of the bugs were worked out in the first 5 years...

......... so....

I guess that anything after 2005 would be a C model.....

I don't think that there is any way to know without looking at the movement itself
